Geographic Boundaries
Broadly, Northside encompases those areas of the city that are both north and east of Interstate 95 and north and west of Interstate 64 (which for a brief span merge through the urban heart of the city), as well as Bryan Park.
The term "North Side" also broadly includes much of central Henrico County as a portion of the Richmond Metropolitan area, being an extension of the development within the (now-fixed) city limits. Communities outside the city limits in this area include the census-designated places of Chamberlayne, Dumbarton, East Highland Park, Glen Allen, Lakeside, and Laurel. Because Henrico County is at its narrowest in this area, portions of Hanover County, which at its closest point is less than five miles from the city limits, may also be included in a broad reference to Richmond's "North Side".

Famous quotes containing the word boundaries:
“Not too many years ago, a childs experience was limited by how far he or she could ride a bicycle or by the physical boundaries that parents set. Today ... the real boundaries of a childs life are set more by the number of available cable channels and videotapes, by the simulated reality of videogames, by the number of megabytes of memory in the home computer. Now kids can go anywhere, as long as they stay inside the electronic bubble.”
—Richard Louv (20th century)
