Harbor

An area of 45,000 square feet (4,200 m2) in the island's harbor was dredged in 2012. The harbor is not entirely sheltered from rough weather: in windy conditions, fishermen have difficulty using it, and must stay awake nights safeguarding their boats.

Famous quotes containing the word harbor:

    “When was I ever anything but kind to him?
    But I’ll not have the fellow back,” he said.
    “I told him so last haying, didn’t I?
    ‘If he left then,’ I said, ‘that ended it.’
    What good is he? Who else will harbor him
    At his age for the little he can do?
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

    Now we sing, and do tiny dances on the kitchen floor.
    Our whole body is like a harbor at dawn;
    We know that our master has left us for the day.
    Robert Bly (b. 1926)

    What do we want with this vast and worthless area, of this region of savages and wild beasts, of deserts, of shifting sands and whirlwinds, of dust, of cactus and prairie dogs; to what use could we ever hope to put these great deserts, or those endless mountain ranges, impenetrable and covered to their very base with eternal snow? What can we ever hope to do with the western coast, a coast of 3,000 miles, rockbound, cheerless, uninviting and not a harbor in it?
