Non Professional Swiss Romand Americain Football League - History

History

American Football in Switzerland has only 11 clubs (5 in LNA and 6 in LNB). Due to a lack of structures and comprehension of the needs of smaller teams a regional league was created. The NSFL saw the day in 2004. 6 Teams took part during the first season in 2005 in 2006 two new teams joined the league. Every year new clubs are created or older clubs are able to survive thanks to the NSFL system. Unfortunately the National Federation SAFV does not see the positive work that is done by the NSFL. The NSFL in no means wishes to replace the SAFV. The NSFL is working on a more regional level. The SAFV at the moment refuse to any discussions with the NSFL. The NSFL has in the past met the SAFV; they have brought certain modifications following the SAFV request. One day maybe they will decide to sit at the table and talk with the NSFL or maybe the SAFV clubs might do it.

The different NSFL tournaments put in place do not forbid NSFL teams to participate in the National Championship (SAFV). This is the case of the Fribourg Cardinals (LNB) and the Geneva Seahawks (LNA).

Famous quotes containing the word history:

No one can understand Paris and its history who does not understand that its fierceness is the balance and justification of its frivolity. It is called a city of pleasure; but it may also very specially be called a city of pain. The crown of roses is also a crown of thorns. Its people are too prone to hurt others, but quite ready also to hurt themselves. They are martyrs for religion, they are martyrs for irreligion; they are even martyrs for immorality.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

Tell me of the height of the mountains of the moon, or of the diameter of space, and I may believe you, but of the secret history of the Almighty, and I shall pronounce thee mad.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    A people without history
Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern
    Of timeless moments.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
