Non-canonical Sherlock Holmes Works

Non-canonical Sherlock Holmes Works

Sherlock Holmes has long been a popular character for authors and creators other than Arthur Conan Doyle. Their works can be grouped into four broad categories:

  • new Sherlock Holmes stories;
  • stories in which Holmes appears in a cameo role;
  • stories about imagined descendants of Sherlock Holmes;
  • and stories inspired by Sherlock Holmes but which do not include Holmes himself.

There can be found also many pop culture references to Sherlock Holmes.

Famous quotes containing the words holmes and/or works:

    “No, no; the real name,” said Holmes sweetly. “It is always awkward doing business with an alias.”
    Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930)

    Are you there, Africa with the bulging chest and oblong thigh? Sulking Africa, wrought of iron, in the fire, Africa of the millions of royal slaves, deported Africa, drifting continent, are you there? Slowly you vanish, you withdraw into the past, into the tales of castaways, colonial museums, the works of scholars.
    Jean Genet (1910–1986)
