Nitro High School is a public high school in Kanawha County, West Virginia. It is located in Nitro, West Virginia. It is one of eight public high schools in the Kanawha County School District. Founded in 1917 as a federal school then bought by the county in 1923, Nitro is the oldest. Nitro High School is a AAA high school with a student enrollment of 760 students in grades 9-12. The College Board identified Nitro High as having one of the best student success rates in AP Math and Science Courses in West Virginia for two years in a row.
