Niagara (1953 film)

Niagara is a 1953 thriller-film noir, released by Twentieth Century-Fox, directed by Henry Hathaway, and starring Joseph Cotten, Jean Peters, Casey Adams (Max Showalter), and introducing Marilyn Monroe, in her first major film appearance. Unlike other film noirs of time, Niagara was filmed in Technicolor and was one of Fox's biggest box office hits of the year.

Monroe was given first billing in Niagara, and stole the show from her co-stars. The film bolted her to a superstar status, and her following two films of that year, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, with Jane Russell, and How to Marry a Millionaire, with Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall, were even bigger successes.
