A German federal election will be held on 22 September 2013 to determine the 598 (or more, if overhangs are produced) members of the 18th Bundestag, the main federal legislative house of Germany. It can be held earlier or later under exceptional constitutional circumstances (such as in the case where the Chancellor loses a vote of confidence in the Bundestag, they may request the Federal President to hold elections earlier). If many years ago we had had the necessary knowledge, and especially the necessary willingness on the part of the Federal Government, we would have saved a sum, a sum of money which has cost the taxpayers of America two billion dollars.” “Well, I am chiefly interested in the renomination, so dont get disconsolate over that. If we lost the election I shall feel that the party is rejected, whereas if I fail to secure the renomination it will be a personal defeat.” |
