Newton Abbot College - History

History

Newton Abbot Grammar School underwent significant changes in 1975, changing from a grammar to a comprehensive school, under the new name of Knowles Hill School. The name was changed in 2008 to Newton Abbot College, along with other aspects, such as a new uniform, included reintroducing the blazer which had lost its appeal in the comprehensive years of the school, reintroduced in 2009.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

There is nothing truer than myth: history, in its attempt to “realize” myth, distorts it, stops halfway; when history claims to have “succeeded” this is nothing but humbug and mystification. Everything we dream is “realizable.” Reality does not have to be: it is simply what it is.
    Eugène Ionesco (b. 1912)

America is the only nation in history which miraculously has gone directly from barbarism to degeneration without the usual interval of civilization.
    Georges Clemenceau (1841–1929)

If usually the “present age” is no very long time, still, at our pleasure, or in the service of some such unity of meaning as the history of civilization, or the study of geology, may suggest, we may conceive the present as extending over many centuries, or over a hundred thousand years.
    Josiah Royce (1855–1916)
