New Zealand Union of Students' Associations - Current Activities

Current Activities

In the 2005 New Zealand general election the organisation strongly advocated in favour of policies it long held. These include reduction of student debt, and universal access to student allowances for full-time students. Such policy was supported by many minor parties, including the Greens, NZ First and United Future. The previous Labour-lead Government introduced 0% student interest on student loans policy, but the organisation continues to campaign against decreasing access to student allowances, and systemic fee increases.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or activities:

I perceived that to express those impressions, to write that essential book, which is the only true one, a great writer does not, in the current meaning of the word, invent it, but, since it exists already in each one of us, interprets it. The duty and the task of a writer are those of an interpreter.
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)

...I have never known a “movement” in the theater that did not work direct and serious harm. Indeed, I have sometimes felt that the very people associated with various “uplifting” activities in the theater are people who are astoundingly lacking in idealism.
    Minnie Maddern Fiske (1865–1932)
