New Zealand Open Source Society - New Zealand Open Source Awards

New Zealand Open Source Awards

In 2007 the Inaugural New Zealand Open Source Awards were held, with the Society a involved in both organisation and sponsorship. These awards now run annually and serve to showcase the contributions of New Zealanders directly to open source projects or the promotion of open source generally, as well as exemplary use of open source by New Zealand organisations. The Awards help to raise awareness of the open source advantage for New Zealand by telling some powerful success stories based on real achievements.

The awards were also held in 2008, 2010, and 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words zealand, open and/or source:

Teasing is universal. Anthropologists have found the same fundamental patterns of teasing among New Zealand aborigine children and inner-city kids on the playgrounds of Philadelphia.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

If you can’t smile, don’t open a store.
    Chinese proverb.

We are threatened with suffering from three directions: from our own body, which is doomed to decay and dissolution and which cannot even do without pain and anxiety as warning signals; from the external world, which may rage against us with overwhelming and merciless forces of destruction; and finally from our relations to other men. The suffering which comes from this last source is perhaps more painful than any other.
    Sigmund Freud (1856–1939)
