New Zealand Disruptive Pattern Material - New Zealand Desert DPM

New Zealand Desert DPM

The first contingents deployed to Afghanistan wore the 1997 pattern standard temperate DPM. A desert version of the 1997 pattern uniform first appeared in 2003 with the deployment to Iraq. A desert DPM version of the 2008 combat uniform is now being issued for use in Afghanistan, the Sinai and Lebanon. The desert DPM material closely resembles the British 2-colour desert pattern.

Famous quotes containing the words zealand and/or desert:

Teasing is universal. Anthropologists have found the same fundamental patterns of teasing among New Zealand aborigine children and inner-city kids on the playgrounds of Philadelphia.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

What though the traveler tell us of the ruins of Egypt, are we so sick or idle that we must sacrifice our America and today to some man’s ill-remembered and indolent story? Carnac and Luxor are but names, or if their skeletons remain, still more desert sand and at length a wave of the Mediterranean Sea are needed to wash away the filth that attaches to their grandeur. Carnac! Carnac! here is Carnac for me. I behold the columns of a larger
    and purer temple.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
