Famous quotes containing the words fourth, ring, society and/or talks:
“The British are a self-distrustful, diffident people, agreeing with alacrity that they are neither successful nor clever, and only modestly claiming that they have a keener sense of humour, more robust common sense, and greater staying power as a nation than all the rest of the world put together.”
—Quoted in Fourth Leaders from the Times (1950)
“When the merry bells ring round,
And the jocund rebecks sound
To many a youth and many a maid,
Dancing in the chequered shade;
And young and old come forth to play
On a sunshine holiday,”
—John Milton (16081674)
“A society in which adults are estranged from the world of children, and often from their own childhood, tends to hear childrens speech only as a foreign language, or as a lie.... Children have been treated ... as congenital fibbers, fakers and fantasisers.”
—Beatrix Campbell (b. 1947)
“Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (18351910)
