Relatives and Regional Variations
The New York-style of pizza tends to dominate the Northeastern states, especially New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Additionally, variations of New York-style pizza are existent in Northeastern states. Outside of the Northeast, many pizzas are described as "New York style," including some by major pizza chains such as Pizza Hut. Authenticity is highly variable and often spurious; as the term is often misapplied to "generic American" pizza; examples would be crust that is too thick, too cracker-like, or the use of mixed multi-cheese blends, especially those containing cheddar.

Famous quotes containing the words relatives and/or variations:
“Every milestone of a firstborn is scrutinized, photographed, recorded, replayed, and retold by doting parents to admiring relatives and disinterested friends. . . . While subsequent children will strive to keep pace with siblings a few years their senior, the firstborn will always have a seemingly Herculean task of emulating his adult parents.”
—Marianne E. Neifert (20th century)
“I may be able to spot arrowheads on the desert but a refrigerator is a jungle in which I am easily lost. My wife, however, will unerringly point out that the cheese or the leftover roast is hiding right in front of my eyes. Hundreds of such experiences convince me that men and women often inhabit quite different visual worlds. These are differences which cannot be attributed to variations in visual acuity. Man and women simply have learned to use their eyes in very different ways.”
—Edward T. Hall (b. 1914)
