New Lots Avenue is the eastern (railroad southern) terminal of the IRT New Lots Line of the New York City Subway. It has two tracks and one island platform, and is the terminal for some rush hour 2 and 5 trips, the 3 train at all times but late nights, and the 4 train during late nights (as well as a few rush hour trains). The station has an active tower and crew quarters at platform level. Railroad south of the station, the tracks curve into Livonia Yard. East of the station there is a never-used trackway structure which continues for about 75 feet. This extension was a provision for the line to continue east on New Lots Avenue.
Famous quotes containing the words lots and/or avenue:
“Wherever a man separates from the multitude, and goes his own way in this mood, there indeed is a fork in the road, though ordinary travelers may see only a gap in the paling. His solitary path across lots will turn out the higher way of the two.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Has anyone ever told you that you overplay your various roles rather severely, Mr. Kaplan? First youre the outraged Madison Avenue man who claims hes been mistaken for someone else. Then you play the fugitive from justice, supposedly trying to clear his name of a crime he knows he didnt commit. And now you play the peevish lover stung by jealously and betrayal. It seems to me you fellows could stand a little less training from the FBI and a little more from the Actors Studio.”
—Ernest Lehman (b.1920)
