New Kids On The Block (album)
New Kids on the Block is the self-titled debut album from American pop boy band New Kids on the Block.
Released in the spring of 1986, its very bubble-gum, pseudo early Osmonds/New Edition-esque stylings failed to garner any attention. As a result, the album went commercially unnoticed. In August 1989, during the success of their second album, Hangin' Tough, Columbia Records released the New Kids on the Block track "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind)" as a single, in an attempt to bring this album to the attention of the group's growing fanbase. The ploy worked, and albums sales spiked. Subsequently, the New Kids on the Block album would eventually be certified 3x platinum by the RIAA; peaking at #25 on the US Billboard 200.

Famous quotes containing the words kids and/or block:
“When our kids are young, many of us rush out to buy a cute little baby book to record the meaningful events of our young childs life...But Ive often thought there should be a second book, one with room to record the moral milestones of our childs lives. There might be space to record dates she first shared or showed compassion or befriended a new student or thought of sending Grandma a get-well card or told the truth despite its cost.”
—Fred G. Gosman (20th century)
“Painting consumes labour not disproportionate to its effect; but a fellow will hack half a year at a block of marble to make something in stone that hardly resembles a man. The value of statuary is owing to its difficulty. You would not value the finest head cut upon a carrot.”
—Samuel Johnson (17091784)
