New Jerusalem Bible - Contents

Contents

The New Jerusalem Bible includes the deuterocanonical books and sections. The text of these is included where they occur in the context of the complete Septuagint, rather than being grouped together in an appendix. Deuterocanonical sections of books in the Hebrew canon are identified by the use of italics.

Famous quotes containing the word contents:

    If one reads a newspaper only for information, one does not learn the truth, not even the truth about the paper. The truth is that the newspaper is not a statement of contents but the contents themselves; and more than that, it is an instigator.
    Karl Kraus (1874–1936)

    Such as boxed
    Their feelings properly, complete to tags
    A box for dark men and a box for Other
    Would often find the contents had been scrambled.
    Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)

    To be, contents his natural desire;
    He asks no Angel’s wing, no Seraph’s fire;
    But thinks, admitted to that equal sky,
    His faithful dog shall bear him company.
    Alexander Pope (1688–1744)
