New Hampshire Air National Guard

The New Hampshire Air National Guard (NH ANG) is the air force militia of the State of New Hampshire, United States of America. It is, along with the New Hampshire Army National Guard, an element of the New Hampshire National Guard.

As state militia units, the units in the New Hampshire Air National Guard are not in the normal United States Air Force chain of command. They are under the jurisdiction of the Governor of New Hampshire though the office of the New Hampshire Adjutant General unless they are federalized by order of the President of the United States. The New Hampshire Air National Guard is headquartered in Portsmouth, and its commander is Brigadier General Carolyn Protzmann.

Famous quotes containing the words hampshire, air, national and/or guard:

    A sturdy lad from New Hampshire or Vermont who in turn tries all the professions, who teams it, farms it, peddles, keeps a school, preaches, edits a newspaper, goes to Congress, buys a township, and so forth, in successive years, and always like a cat falls on his feet, is worth a hundred of these city dolls. He walks abreast with his days and feels no shame in not “studying a profession,” for he does not postpone his life, but lives already.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    His hope is treacherous only whose love dies
    With beauty, which is varying every hour;
    But, in chaste hearts uninfluenced by the power
    Of outward change, there blooms a deathless flower,
    That breathes on earth the air of paradise.
    Michelangelo Buonarroti (1474–1564)

    It is no part of the functions of the National Government to find employment for the people, and if we were to appropriate a hundred millions for his purpose, we should only be taxing 40 millions of people to keep a few thousand employed.
    James A. Garfield (1831–1881)

    Those that I fight I do not hate,
    Those that I guard I do not love;
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
