NESN Plus
When two sports events that NESN has the rights to conflict, NESN carries one of those events and carries the second on a second channel called "NESN Plus". Originally Comcast systems utilized NECN or CN8 for NESN Plus while other stations placed NESN Plus on an empty channel or a local Public-access television cable TV channel. DirecTV added it in both SD and HD on April 11, 2009.
The most recent time the channel was used was in April 2012, when NESN carried a Boston Bruins playoff game and NESN Plus carried a Boston Red Sox baseball game. Some ACC telecasts may also be moved to NESN Plus in the event of a conflict with NESN's Red Sox or Bruins coverage, especially when a televised Boston College sports event takes place.
