Initial Diversifications
In 1978, NCC decided to expand its horizons beyond low-income housing and daycare facility development. In keeping with its mission to provide jobs and economic activity in local neighborhoods, New Community took over the management, maintenance and security functions at its housing (and Babyland day care centers). NCC also began providing social service support for its residents through social workers assigned to its buildings.
