New Castle School of Trades - History

History

New Castle School of Trades was founded in 1945 and moved to its current location in Pulaski, Pennsylvania in 1954. Since its inception, the school’s purpose has been to train its students in various skilled trades.

In 1973, NCST earned accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of the National Association of Trade and Technical Schools (NATTS). This accreditation means that the school has met certain standards of quality for the education that it provides, as NATTS is recognized as the accreditation authority in its area of expertise by the U.S. Department of Education.

In 1982, NCST was approved to award the Associate in Specialized Technology in the electrical technology field by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Shortly afterwards, several more programs offered by the school earned the same distinction.

In 1988, NCST was acquired by EFC Trade Inc., a Canada based business that specializes in providing career training through specialty schools.

In 2011, NCST was moved to its new location in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The previous location is still in use for two programs: Commercial Truck Driving and Heavy Equipment Operations.
