The school's principal function is to prepare boys for the Common Entrance examination, used by British public schools to select pupils, and each year many of the school's pupils succeed in gaining places either at Sevenoaks School or Tonbridge School - both consistently ranked amongst the top fee-paying secondary schools in the country in terms of A-Level/IB performance and Oxbridge entrance. Over the years ex-Beacon Boys have gone on to attend some of the country's oldest and most famous public schools, including Eton College, Harrow School, Winchester College and Westminster School.

Famous quotes containing the word results:

We do not raise our children alone.... Our children are also raised by every peer, institution, and family with which they come in contact. Yet parents today expect to be blamed for whatever results occur with their children, and they expect to do their parenting alone.
    Richard Louv (20th century)

    Horace Walpole (1717–1797)

The chief benefit, which results from philosophy, arises in an indirect manner, and proceeds more from its secret, insensible influence, than from its immediate application.
    David Hume (1711–1776)
