New Adventures - Adventures in Motion Pictures

Adventures in Motion Pictures

Adventures in Motion Pictures (AMP), was a dance company formed in 1987 by a group of students from Laban, a leading vocational dance school based in London, England. The company began as a repertory ensemble, staging a variety of small scale works produced by different choreographers. It was particularly noted for works created by Matthew Bourne. Some of the company's better-known works include Infernal Galop, Deadly Serious, Spitfire, Town and Country and its revisions of classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Cinderella. Possibly as a result of his individual success, Bourne left the company in 2001 to form New Adventures. AMP was dissolved in 2004, with all performance rights for Bourne's works transferred to New Adventures.

Famous quotes containing the words adventures, motion and/or pictures:

We had no revolutions to fear, nor fatigues to undergo; all our adventures were by the fireside, and all our migrations from the blue bed to the brown.
    Oliver Goldsmith (1728–1774)

When desire, having rejected reason and overpowered judgment which leads to right, is set in the direction of the pleasure which beauty can inspire, and when again under the influence of its kindred desires it is moved with violent motion towards the beauty of corporeal forms, it acquires a surname from this very violent motion, and is called love.
    Socrates (469–399 B.C.)

Sam Goldwyn said, “How’m I gonna do decent pictures when all my good writers are in jail?” Then he added, the infallible Goldwyn, “Don’t misunderstand me, they all ought to be hung.” Mr. Goldwyn didn’t know about “hanged.” That’s all there is to say.
    Dorothy Parker (1893–1967)
