Never Let Me Down

Never Let Me Down is the seventeenth studio album by David Bowie, released in April 1987. Written and recorded in Switzerland, Bowie regarded the album at the time as a "move back to rock 'n roll music. Very directly."

Bowie described the tracks from Never Let Me Down as being written for being performed on stage and they formed the backbone of his highly theatrical Glass Spider world tour in 1987 (the official video album from the tour was also called Glass Spider).

When the album was released, Bowie thought he'd go back into the studio to record more material, stating, "We're all very excited to be going back in the studio. We over-wrote on album and I think there's a lot more new material we want to record." But in fact Bowie's next solo album didn't arrive until Black Tie White Noise in 1993.

Famous quotes containing the words never, let and/or down:

    “The horror of that moment,” the King went on, “I shall never, never forget!”
    “You will, though,” the Queen said, “if you don’t make a memorandum of it.”
    Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (1832–1898)

    A right rule for a club would be, Admit no man whose presence excludes any one topic. It requires people who are not surprised and shocked, who do and let do, and let be, who sink trifles, and know solid values, and who take a great deal for granted.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

    Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave
    Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind;
    Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.
    I know, But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.
    Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892–1950)
