- Neural Impulse Actuator (July, 2008) while this device sold for $100 or less as early as 2008, it used Electromyography rather than the Electroencephalography that is used in NeuroSky devices.
- Emotiv Systems The Emotiv Epoc device is sold for $299. While it uses more electrodes, the EPOC does not use a dry electrode system and requires a saline solution to be applied to pads attached to the electrodes before use. The EPOC only has a few products/software associated with it but these are of superior quality and reliability in terms of the stability and user-interface.
