According to the 2001 census, the Municipality of Neuhaus has 1,236 inhabitants, of which 96.9% are Austrian and 1.0% German citizens. 13.2% are Carinthian Slovenes.
96.5% of the population is Roman Catholic and 1.4% is Lutheran. 1.3% have no religious affiliation.
