NSIT has the following Divisions, Schools and Centres of Excellence:

The last two Divisions have although already been created with the approval of the Board of Governors but would start educational programs in near future.At present only the first six divisions are active and enroll students in the institute.

This program is the flagship course of the institute. NSIT has the following branches at the undergraduate (B.E.) Level :

- Master of Technology
At the postgraduate (M.Tech.) level NSIT has the following branches:
- Information Systems (under Division of Computer Engineering) (18 full-time + 5 part-time)
- Signal Processing(under Division of Electronics and Communications Engineering) (18 full-time + 5 part-time)
- Process Control (under Division of Instrumentation and Control Engineering) (18 full-time + 5 part-time)
The Doctoral degrees(Ph.D) are given to candidates who finish their research in one or more than one of the areas of Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Manufacturing Processes and Automation Engineering and Biotechnology or the School of Applied Sciences which includes Physics, Chemistry and Maths. A `Teaching-cum-Research Fellowship' (TRF) scheme was introduced by NSIT in 1998 for the candidates.
