Machine Readable Passport (MRP)

As a member of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Nepal is obliged to issue machine-readable passports (MRP) after 2010. Nepal stopped issuing hand-written passports on March 31st, 2010.

All traditional hand written passports will be honoured as a bona fide travel document issued by the Nepalese Government until 24 November 2015. All traditional passports must be withdrawn from circulation by November 2015.

Famous quotes containing the words machine, readable and/or passport:

Much that is natural, to the will must yield.
Men manufacture both machine and soul,
And use what they imperfectly control
To dare a future from the taken routes.
    Thom Gunn (b. 1929)

Anyone, however, who has had dealings with dates knows that they are worse than elusive, they are perverse. Events do not happen at the right time, nor in their proper sequence. That sense of harmony with place and season which is so stong in the historian—if he be a readable historian—is lamentably lacking in history, which takes no pains to verify his most convincing statements.
    Agnes Repplier (1858–1950)

It is better to pay court to a queen ... than to worship, as we too often do, some unworthy person whose wealth is his sole passport into society. I believe that a habit of respect is good for the human race.
    M. E. W. Sherwood (1826–1903)
