Nellee Hooper was responsible for the BAFTA award-winning soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet in 1996. He worked alongside Scottish composer Craig Armstrong and English composer Marius van Wyk de Vries. It was Hooper's first and only motion picture score. Hooper armed the soundtrack with sequences of bombastic choral and flamboyant orchestral forces and fusing it with his well-known hip-hop, trip-hop and electronica genres. Hooper since has not been active in the motion picture industry.

Famous quotes containing the words romeo, juliet and/or score:

    It is nor hand, nor foot,
    Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
    Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
    What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
    By any other word would smell as sweet;
    So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called,
    Retain that dear perfection which he owes
    Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
    And for thy name, which is no part of thee,
    Take all myself.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    For never was a story of more woe
    Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    A man who is a politician at forty is a statesman at three score and ten. It is at this age, when he would be too old to be a clerk or a gardener or a police-court magistrate, that he is ripe to govern a country.
    W. Somerset Maugham (1874–1965)
