In 1882, the cornerstone of the current church, modeled on the riding stable of the English estate of the Duke of Devonshire, was laid. The Rt. Rev. George D. Gillespie consecrated the church on January 10, 1884. The curch cintains historic stained-glass windows representing the Holy Sacrament, St. John the Evangelist, and St. Mary, the Mother of God. In 1996, the church building underwent extensive restoration and renovations, much of which was completed by parishioners. |

“Dont you know there are 200 temperance women in this county who control 200 votes. Why does a woman work for temperance? Because shes tired of liftin that besotted mate of hers off the floor every Saturday night and puttin him on the sofa so he wont catch cold. Tonight were for temperance. Help yourself to them cloves and chew them, chew them hard. Were goin to that festival tonight smelling like a hot mince pie.”
