National Lymphedema Network

The National Lymphedema Network (NLN) is a non-profit organization based in Oakland, California, USA which deals with lymphedema.

It was founded in 1988 to provide education and guidance to lymphedema patients, health care professionals and the general public by disseminating information through publications, conferences and the Worldwide Web on the prevention and management of primary and secondary lymphedema.

It seeks to standardize quality treatment for people with lymphedema across the United States, provides advice to patients and health providers who seek to overturn a health insurer's decision to deny coverage for lymphedema treatments, and supports research into the causes of and possible alternative treatments for this condition.

Its executive director is Saskia R.J. Thiadens, R.N.

Famous quotes containing the words national and/or network:

You cannot become thorough Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. America does not consist of groups. A man who thinks of himself as belonging to a particular national group in America has not yet become an American.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

How have I been able to live so long outside Nature without identifying myself with it? Everything lives, moves, everything corresponds; the magnetic rays, emanating either from myself or from others, cross the limitless chain of created things unimpeded; it is a transparent network that covers the world, and its slender threads communicate themselves by degrees to the planets and stars. Captive now upon earth, I commune with the chorus of the stars who share in my joys and sorrows.
    Gérard De Nerval (1808–1855)
