NFB Studios and Divisions

From 2008 to 2012, the head of NFB English Program was Cindy Witten. The current head of NFB French Program is Monique Simard. In 2009, Simard introduced a filmmaker in residence program, bringing in leading Quebec filmmakers for two-year terms, beginning with Paule Baillargeon and Philippe Baylaucq.

As of 2009, the NFB is organized along nine branches and departments:

  • Business Affairs and Legal Services
  • Technical Innovation and Resources
  • Human Resources

With six regional studios in English Program:

  • Animation Studio based in Montreal, headed by Executive Producer: Roddy McManus and Producers: Michael Fukushima, Marcy Page
  • Atlantic Centre based in Halifax, headed by Executive Producer: Ravida Din and Producer: Paul McNeill
  • Quebec Centre based in Montreal, also headed by Executive Producer: Ravida Din
  • Ontario Centre based in Toronto, headed by Executive Producer: Silva Basmajian and Producers: Anita Lee, Gerry Flahive, Lea Marin
  • North West Centre based in Edmonton, headed by Executive Producer: David Christensen and Producer: Bonnie Thompson
  • Pacific and Yukon Centre based in Vancouver, headed by Executive Producer: Tracey Friesen and Producer: Selwyn Jacob
  • With small satellite offices in Winnipeg, Saskatchewan (Cory Generoux) and Newfoundland.

  • Ontario and West Studio based in Toronto, headed by Executive Producer: Jacques Turgeon
  • Quebec Studio based in Montreal, also headed by Executive Producer: Jacques Turgeon
  • French Animation and Youth Studio based in Montreal, headed by Executive Producer: René Chénier and Producer: Marc Bertrand
  • Studio Acadie/Acadia Studio based in Moncton, headed by Executive Producer: Jacques Turgeon and Producer: Maryse Chapdelaine
