Recognizing National Doctor's Day

National Doctor's Day is commonly celebrated in healthcare organizations as a day to recognize the contributions of doctors to individual lives and communities. These events are typically organized by staff at a healthcare organization. Staff may organize a lunch for doctor's present the doctor with a gift, or coordinate a team lunch.

The most common recognition on National Doctor’s Day is a handwritten note or greeting card signed by the doctor’s staff. Community members also get involved in the celebration by writing a letter to the local newspaper in honor of a doctor or sending a greeting card directly to a doctor.

Famous quotes containing the words recognizing, national, doctor and/or day:

What stunned me was the regular assertion that feminists were “anti-family.” . . . It was motherhood that got me into the movement in the first place. I became an activist after recognizing how excruciatingly personal the political was to me and my sons. It was the women’s movement that put self-esteem back into “just a housewife,” rescuing our intelligence from the junk pile of “instinct” and making it human, deliberate, powerful.
    Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)

... the Wall became a magnet for citizens of every generation, class, race, and relationship to the war perhaps because it is the only great public monument that allows the anesthetized holes in the heart to fill with a truly national grief.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

Every doctor will allow a colleague to decimate a whole countryside sooner than violate the bond of professional etiquet by giving him away.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.
For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition.
And gentlemen in England now abed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
