Nanny and The Professor - Paranormal Phenomena

Paranormal Phenomena

The "magical" Nanny shows up unbidden after the single dad's mischievous children have driven away just another housekeeper (as reprised in Nanny McPhee). She seems to know the names of all strangers she meets, and can tell that the phone or doorbell is about to ring. Each time a bit of "magic" occurs a ding-a-ling sound is made (compare Samantha's nose-twitch sound on Bewitched). When something the father has to do interferes with the children's lives, often the phone or doorbell will ring (in conjunction with the ding-a-ling signal), and he will be told that the interference has been cancelled or postponed.

Famous quotes containing the word phenomena:

The phenomena of the year take place every day in a pond on a small scale. Every morning, generally speaking, the shallow water is being warmed more rapidly than the deep, though it may not be made so warm after all, and every evening it is being cooled more rapidly until the morning. The day is an epitome of the year. The night is the winter, the morning and evening are the spring and fall, and the noon is the summer. The cracking and booming of the ice indicate a change of temperature.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
