Reconstruction
From 1933 to 1936, both Nagato-class ships were reconstructed. The stern was extended, two 5.5-inch guns were removed and the 3-inch anti-aircraft guns were replaced with four twin 5-inch anti-air mounts and ten twin 25mm mounts. The boilers were replaced with oil-fired boilers.
