Discovery Centres

A roaming Discovery Centre, a specially designed semi-trailer toured various locations throughout Victoria for public and staff familiarisation.

A second, stationary, Discovery Centre is located at Southern Cross Station. It was opened by Minister for Transport, Lynne Kosky on Thursday, 8 March 2007. The centre was then open to the general public from Friday, 9 March 2007.

According to Minister Kosky's announcement, the site at Southern Cross Station includes "... a series of interactive, visual, auditory and tactile activities including staff demonstrations, DVD displays and interactive learning experiences. "

The Southern Cross Station centre is open 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am–4pm on weekends. In 2008, the site cost $100,000 a year to rent from the station authority.

Famous quotes containing the words discovery and/or centres:

That the discovery of this great truth, which lies so near and obvious to the mind, should be attained to by the reason of so very few, is a sad instance of the stupidity and inattention of men, who, though they are surrounded with such clear manifestations of the Deity, are yet so little affected by them, that they seem as it were blinded with excess of light.
    George Berkeley (1685–1753)

I perceive that in these woods the earliest settlements are, for various reasons, clustering about the lakes, but partly, I think, for the sake of the neighborhood as the oldest clearings. They are forest schools already established,—great centres of light.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
