Nikto

When the planet Kintan was bombarded by stellar radiation from the explosion of a nearby star, rapid evolution on the planet created five sub-branches of the same species, the Niktos: Kajain'sa'nikto (Red Niktos, from the desert); Kadas'sa'nikto (Green Niktos, from the forests); Esral'sa'nikto (Mountain Niktos); Gluss'sa'Nikto (Pale Niktos, from the coast); and M'shento'su'nikto (Southern Niktos).

For several centuries, the Nikto people were ruled over by a violent and fanatical religious organization called the Cult of M'dweshuu, which was much despised by the majority of Kintan's population. When the Hutts were waging a war against Xim the Despot, they saw the Niktos' situation as an opportunity to recruit another servant species into their army. A fleet of Huttese starships bombarded the Cult of M'dweshuu's stronghold from orbit, wiping it out, and the grateful Nikto eagerly signed the Treaty of Vontor, requiring them, as well as their nearby neighbors the Klatooinians and Vodrans, to serve the Hutts indefinitely. There are many Niktos serving Jabba the Hutt in the movie Return of the Jedi. One of the Niktos in Jabba's court was named Klaatu, which along with Barada (himself of the Klatooinian race) referenced The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951 film) where Gort must be stopped by saying "Klaatu barada nikto."

An example of a Nikto Jedi is Fi-Ek Sirch who fought and died at the Battle of Geonosis. Sartochi Ramora was another Nikto Jedi who fought at the battle of Geonosis. He is also one of the few Jedi that have fallen to the Dark Side.

Nikto people make an appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (movie) outside Jabba's Palace, and they appear in the episode "Dooku Captured".
