Muttshack Animal Rescue Foundation

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the MuttShack Foundation rescued over 3,000 animals.

In 2005, founder Amanda St. John and marty st. john was honored with special awards from the United States House of Representatives and the City of Los Angeles for rescue efforts and community service.

Famous quotes containing the words animal, rescue and/or foundation:

I am afraid that the animals regard man as a creature like themselves which has lost its sound animal wits in a most dangerous way—that they regard him as the deranged animal, as the laughing animal, as the weeping animal, as the unhappy animal.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

We live in a time which has created the art of the absurd. It is our art. It contains happenings, Pop art, camp, a theater of the absurd.... Do we have the art because the absurd is the patina of waste...? Or are we face to face with a desperate or most rational effort from the deepest resources of the unconscious of us all to rescue civilization from the pit and plague of its bedding?
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)

Surely the only sound foundation for a civilization is a sound state of mind.
    —E.M. (Edward Morgan)
