Gothic Rock
In Cleveland in the early 1990s, Gothic label Jevan Records established its first signing with the band Lestat (named after fictional vampire Lestat de Lioncourt), releasing Theatre of The Vampires (1990), Grave Desires (1991) and Vision of Sorrows (1994). Lestat has also been featured on many compilations such as Jevan Records "One", and Cleopatra's "Goth Box", a 4 CD compilation.
Other signed Jevan artists included Fragment, who helped pioneer and lead the Industrial movement in Cleveland with their release of SURA in 1995, experimental electro act Bath, who released Fools (1996) and N-Graver (1998), and electro industrial band Graven Image and their release, Black Lung Cathedral (1998).
Columbus is home to the synth-metal band, Curse Icon, recent winner of Columbus Music Review's "2011 CD of the Year" award, for fans of mainstream's Nocturne, Evanescence, and Nightwish.

Famous quotes containing the words gothic and/or rock:
“The Gothic cathedral is a blossoming in stone subdued by the insatiable demand of harmony in man.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Amongst the learned the lawyers claim first place, the most self-satisfied class of people, as they roll their rock of Sisyphus and string together six hundred laws in the same breath, no matter whether relevant or not, piling up opinion on opinion and gloss on gloss to make their profession seem the most difficult of all. Anything which causes trouble has special merit in their eyes.”
—Desiderius Erasmus (c. 14661536)
