With a young high-tech '90's feel and just a touch of 40's retro charm, 'Murder Call' follows a classic clue - puzzle plot, combining mystery, action and suspense, spiked with humour, romance and a touch of the bizarre.
The series dealt with the cases confronted by an unconventional team of homicide detectives, Tessa Vance and Steve Hayden. Backing them up was:
- The boss - Inspector Malcolm Thorne
- Pathologist - Dr Imogen Soames
- Forensic officer - Dr Lance Fisk (he got a Ph.D)
- Crime scene photographer - Constable Dee Suzeraine
Murder Call was filmed in Sydney and unlike a lot of shows based in Sydney, often shot the less spectacular side of the city. The exterior of the Homicide station was filmed at Ashington House (formerly AFT House/Delfin House), on O'Connell Street in Sydney.
The show is currently being re-run on the Foxtel channel 13th Street.
Famous quotes containing the words murder and/or call:
“What drivel it all is!... A string of words called religion. Another string of words called philosophy. Half a dozen other strings called political ideals. And all the words either ambiguous or meaningless. And people getting so excited about them theyll murder their neighbours for using a word they dont happen to like. A word that probably doesnt mean as much as a good belch. Just a noise without even the excuse of gas on the stomach.”
—Aldous Huxley (18941963)
“I call on those that call me son,
Grandson, or great-grandson,
On uncles, aunts, great-uncles or great-aunts
To judge what I have done.
Have I, that put it into words,
Spoilt what old loins have sent?”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
