Ali would reclaim the WBA version of the Heavyweight Championship from Ernie Terrell in 1967. After one successful defense as the universal World Heavyweight Champion, Ali was stripped of his titles for refusing to enlist when drafted later that year, being a conscientious objector from the Vietnam War.
