MS Thomson Celebration - History

History

The Thomson Celebration was built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in 1984 for Holland America Line as MS Noordam. In 2005, the ship was taken out of service by Holland America, chartered to Thomson Cruises and rechristened as the Thomson Celebration. Her sister ship, the Thomson Spirit, was originally the Holland America ship MS Nieuw Amsterdam (1983). Thomson Celebration is to receive a refurbishment in 2013 and be introduced into the new Platinum collection of cruises.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

It’s not the sentiments of men which make history but their actions.
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)

To care for the quarrels of the past, to identify oneself passionately with a cause that became, politically speaking, a losing cause with the birth of the modern world, is to experience a kind of straining against reality, a rebellious nonconformity that, again, is rare in America, where children are instructed in the virtues of the system they live under, as though history had achieved a happy ending in American civics.
    Mary McCarthy (1912–1989)

No event in American history is more misunderstood than the Vietnam War. It was misreported then, and it is misremembered now.
    Richard M. Nixon (b. 1913)
