Natural History

Moyie Falls, near the mouth of the river, effectively blocks the migration of fish. In addition, various dams on the Kootenay River block fish migration. There are resident Kokanee salmon in the upper Moyie River and in Moyie Lake. These are introduced during the 1940s and since naturalized.

Famous quotes containing the words natural and/or history:

The wish to acquire more is admittedly a very natural and common thing; and when men succeed in this they are always praised rather than condemned. But when they lack the ability to do so and yet want to acquire more at all costs, they deserve condemnation for their mistakes.
    Niccolò Machiavelli (1469–1527)

Revolutions are the periods of history when individuals count most.
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
