Mountain View High School (Virginia) - International Baccalaureate Program

International Baccalaureate Program

In 2006, MVHS became the first IB school in Stafford County's school district. Motivated students at MVHS can enroll in either single IB courses to earn the IB Certificate or the full IB diploma program. Students in the full diploma program take advanced courses in six core areas and a Theory of Knowledge course. Students in the diploma program must complete the Extended Essay which is a 4,000 word research paper on the topic of their choice. In addition to academic rigor, IB Diploma students are expected to complete a community service course requiring at least 150 hours of community service.

In 2008, nine students out of the graduating class of over 400 chose to pursue the prestigious IB Diploma. Over 30 graduated with the IB certificate.
