Mount Baker (Link Station) - Other Transit

Other Transit

A King County Metro bus transit facility called the Mount Baker Transit Center near the station opened on September 19, 2009. Mount Baker Transit Center is across Rainier Avenue South, approximately ½ block north of the station at South Forest Street, but is not visible from the station. The siting of Mount Baker Transit Center is the subject of much criticism, due to the less than ideal walking distance between the bus stops and the train platforms.

Mount Baker Transit Center provides stops for King County Metro Routes 7, 7X, 8, 9, 14, 42, and 48. It is the southern terminus of routes 38 and 48.

Route 8 duplicates Central Link's route from Rainier Beach Station to Mount Baker Station, but has significantly more stops, providing a local infill service. Route 38 provides local infill service between Mount Baker Station and Beacon Hill Station, serving 3 stops on a steep hill.

Famous quotes containing the word transit:

We only seem to learn from Life that Life doesn’t matter so much as it seemed to do—it’s not so burningly important, after all, what happens. We crawl, like blinking sea-creatures, out of the Ocean onto a spur of rock, we creep over the promontory bewildered and dazzled and hurting ourselves, then we drop in the ocean on the other side: and the little transit doesn’t matter so much.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

My esoteric doctrine, is that if you entertain any doubt, it is safest to take the unpopular side in the first instance. Transit from the unpopular, is easy ... but from the popular to the unpopular is so steep and rugged that it is impossible to maintain it.
William Lamb Melbourne, 2nd Viscount (1779–1848)
