Motion City Soundtrack Discography

The discography of Motion City Soundtrack, an American pop punk group, consists of five studio albums, nine singles, seven extended plays (three split, one digital, one live) and one seven-inch single.

The band formed in 1997, their first release was a self-recorded and released seven-inch single, titled "Promenade / Carolina". They used the aide of minor record label Modern Radio, for the releases of their first two EPs, Kids for America and Back to the Beat, which were both released in 2000. After self-releasing their debut album I Am the Movie twice, Motion City Soundtrack was signed by Epitaph Records in 2003. The album was re-issued a third time by Epitaph, this time it was remastered and had four additional tracks. Within the next two years the band released three split EP collaborations with other bands. These included a Schatzi Split on Doghouse Records in 2003, a Limbeck Split on Vinyl Nerd Records in 2004, and a Matchbook Romance Split on Epitaph in 2004.

The band returned with its second studio album in 2005, Commit This to Memory, which peaked at only number 72 on the Billboard 200, but went on to sell over 250,000 units. In June 2006, they re-issued a deluxe edition of their second album, it contained an additional track along with three hours of DVD footage. Their third album was released through Epitaph in 2007, titled Even if It Kills Me. The album debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Independent Albums chart. An Acoustic EP was digitally released through the iTunes Store in May 2008, featuring songs from Even if It Kills Me.

Famous quotes containing the words motion and/or city:

The motion picture made in Hollywood, if it is to create art at all, must do so within such strangling limitations of subject and treatment that it is a blind wonder it ever achieves any distinction beyond the purely mechanical slickness of a glass and chromium bathroom.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

“Do not be afraid; for see -I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.”
Bible: New Testament, Luke 2:10 -12.

    Angels to the Shepherds.
