Famous quotes containing the words supporting the, supporting, mentally and/or retarded:

They keep such a dingdong about “supporting the Constitution.” One might imagine it was some miserable, decrepit old creature that was no longer able to totter on crutches but must be held on every side, and dragged along like a drunken loafer, on his road to the lock-up.
    Jane Grey Swisshelm (1815–1884)

There would be no supporting life were we to feel quite as poignantly for others as we do for ourselves.
    Samuel Richardson (1689–1761)

I am the kind of a woman that likes to move on mentally from point to point, and I like for my man to be there way ahead of me. Then if he is strong and honest, it goes on from there. Good looks are not essential, just extra added attraction.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)

Scholastic learning and polemical divinity retarded the growth of all true knowledge.
    David Hume (1711–1776)
