Monroe Bank & Trust - History

History

Founded as Dansard State Bank by Benjamin Dansard and Louis Lafountain in 1859, the company changed names after one year to Dansard & Son Bank and moved to its current location at the corner of Front and Washington Street.

The company merged with the Monroe State Savings Bank in 1940. The Monroe name was kept and the company continued operations from Dansard's location.

The company changed its name in 1968 to Monroe Bank and Trust.
