Mohammad Agha District - Demographics

Demographics

Pashtuns make 80% of the population while Tajiks make 20% of the population.

Pashtuns live mainly in the zones of Gomaran, Burg, Qala Ahmad Zai, Kotubkhel, Surkhab, Abparan, Abbazak, Moghul Khail, Safed Sang, Zarghun Shahr while Tajiks are present mainly in Deh Now (majority of the population is consisted of Pashtuns), Zayed Abad (majority of the population is consisted of Pashtuns), and Mohammad Agha (majority of the population is consisted of Pashtuns). The above mentioned have small communities of Tajik populations but is not the overwhelming ethnicity.

The residents and especially the Pashtun population know both Pashto and Farsi while the Farsi speaking population (Tajiks) know Pashto but not all of them. This is why some might mistake a Pashtun for a Tajik because he speaks Farsi, but should understand that just because an individual speaks Farsi in Mohammad Agha District, Logar Province does not mean they are Tajik.
