Famous quotes containing the words mixed, blood, theatre and/or company:

    All nature is a temple where the alive
    Pillars breathe often a tremor of mixed words;
    Man wanders in a forest of accords
    That peer familiarly from each ogive.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

    The steel decks rock with the lightning shock, and shake with the
    great recoil,
    And the sea grows red with the blood of the dead and reaches for his spoil—
    But not till the foe has gone below or turns his prow and runs,
    Shall the voice of peace bring sweet release to the men behind the
    guns!
    John Jerome Rooney (1866–1934)

    Art is for [the Irish] inseparable from artifice: of that, the theatre is the home. Possibly, it was England made me a novelist.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)

    I have noticed that doctors who fail in the practice of medicine have a tendency to seek one another’s company and aid in consultation. A doctor who cannot take out your appendix properly will recommend you to a doctor who will be unable to remove your tonsils with success.
    Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961)
