1924 No Miss Massachusetts Mildred M. Prendergast was married and allowed to participate in all the activities of the pageant as Miss Boston but was not considered for any competition prizes. She and her lawyer husband later sued the pageant because she had won Miss Boston as an openly married woman. The outcome of the case is not known.
